Judge Scott Privat was born and raised in Crowley, LA. He graduated from Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish in 1996 then attended LSUE before earning his bachelor’s degree in political science from the Catholic University of America in 2001. In 2008 he graduated from the Loyola College of Law in New Orleans with his J.D.

After law school, Judge Privat moved to Crowley and practiced law with his father.  During this time, he handled a variety of civil cases and served as a public defender and a prosecutor.

Judge Privat is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Acadia Parish Bar Association and the Lafayette Parish Bar Association.  Judge Privat has given numerous CLE’s on Professionalism and Ethics and he has given hours of his time in local schools through the Judges in the Classroom Program.

In addition to his professional associations, Judge Privat is an active parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne where he serves as a lector.  He is also an avid hunter and a member of Ducks Unlimited and Coastal Conservation Association.

Judge Privat and his wife were married in 2008 and together they have 3 children that they are raising at their home in Crowley.
